A Traumatic Experience with an Earwig

So.... I'm still shaking from this incident (no, not really, just kidding ;).

Well, it all started when only Devin, Joy, and I were the only ones at home. Joy went out in the backyard to swim and Devin and I went out with her. Everything was all fine and dandy until we came inside. When we came in, I went down to the end of the hallway and Devin started to follow me. Before she started walking down the hallway, she saw a .............

big

huge

EARWIG!!!!

(Actually it wasn't really that big.)

She gasped and said "Marlee, there's an earwig on the wall!!"

I walked cautiously to where Devin was. When I saw the earwig, I gasped and yelled, "It's huge!!"

Since we were the only ones at home, my dad or Caleb or Connor couldn't kill it. Devin and I were standing there, frantically saying, "What do we do?? What do we do?!" When Joy came in the house we ran up to her and said, "There's a scary earwig on the wall! Go kill it!"

Joy was actually willing to try and kill it at first, but when we kept saying make sure you get it, don't miss it, she was a bit hesitant to do it.

Finally, we came up with a great plan. We decided to throw Devin's shoes at it! We wanted to make it fall off of the wall so Joy could smash it! So, we began executing the plan, though we were too scared to throw the shoes. After about five minutes of trying to throw a shoe, I finally got my courage up and threw a shoe at it. Devin and I screamed when the shoe was thrown. But.....(sigh)we missed! We attempted it several more times, each time screaming when we threw the shoe. I guess the earwig noticed we were trying to demolish it, so it started running in a circle on the wall, which made us scream even more. (Hee hee)

At long last, we hit it! Yay! And it fell off of the wall! When that happened Devin and I screamed even louder. But then, we couldn't find it on the floor. So, we very, ever so, cautiously searched the floor for any signs of earwig movement. After long minutes of scanning the floor, I spotted it! Devin and I jumped up and down, pointed at it and yelled at Joy, "GET IT! GET IT! SMASH IT! SMASH IT!"

Joy grabbed the shoe and carefully placed it on top of the earwig. Devin said, "Don't just set the shoe on it, squish it!" So Devin moved Joy out of the way and jumped up and down on the shoe. In her effort to squish the bug, the shoe flipped over and Devin jumped on the earwig with her foot! She screamed again and ran across the room, dragging her foot along the floor. After that, we assumed it was dead, although we couldn't find it after that. So that ended our traumatic experience with an earwig. ;)

(I wonder how the situation would have went if Dad had been home? :)
