Well, anyway, my mom decided to turn on the t.v. to wait for the smoke to come out. (For those of you who don't know, black smoke means no pope and white smoke means new pope. :)
"We should see the smoke any minute now," the t.v. reported.
Well, we waited, and waited, and waited, and w a i t e d, but still no smoke. Devin and I were becoming impatient and started yelling at the t.v. saying, "Come on! Speed it up!! Just send out the smoke!!" My mom was also becoming impatient because she had to leave to take Joy, Caleb, and Connor to swim lessons, but wanted to stay to see the smoke.
"We'll call you when the smoke comes out, o.k.?"
"Alright," my mom said reluctantly and headed out the door.
Still, Devin and I waited, and waited. I was becoming so impatient that I said a prayer, "Grandma, it's your birthday today, so get down there and help them get a move on to pick out a pope!"
And what do ya' know, after just a few minutes, the smoke appeared! I actually wasn't looking at the t.v. when it happened, but Devin saw it and alerted me.
"Black smoke," the t.v. said.
But as I kept watching it, I said, "That smoke isn't staying black, it's- it's turning GREY! ---WAIT! IT'S WHITE NOW!!! WHITE SMOKE!! WHITE SMOKE!!"
And then the t.v. said,
"Habemus Papam!! We have a pope!!"
And there you have it: our new pope,
Pope Francis!
